Kindergarten/First Grade
Teaching is my passion, and I have been very fortunate to work in the Early Childhood Education field for more than fifteen years. My career, as a teacher started in Crested Butte Colorado in 1997 as an educational assistant in a toddler program. In 2000, my husband and I moved to Edwards, Colorado where I worked at the Family-Learning Center as a group leader. Over the next couple of years, I advanced to being the supervisor of four different toddler classrooms. My husband and I started our own family in 2003, and I spent the next seven years at home with my own children. After entering the workforce again in 2010, I was fortunate enough to work part-time in the mornings at Lake Preschool, as a one-on-one educational assistant for a student. In the afternoons, I spent my time volunteering in many different classrooms at Lake School and Gunnison Elementary School. The following year, I was hired as a full-time educational assistant, in a three-year-old classroom at Lake School. Over the next couple of years, I advanced from an educational assistant to being a group leader in the preschool program. In 2014, I graciously accepted a position teaching the half-time kindergarten students in the morning. Now I teach kindergarten/first grade full-time and strive to create a safe, positive learning environment that fosters independence, through developmentally appropriate activities and scaffold instruction.
